Throughout the years, we have received several climbing structures, slides, ride-on toy cars, and picnic tables from our families as their kids outgrew them, and we are so grateful for them! However, it was time to replace the main playground structure with a larger, park-grade one that offered more opportunities for our students to climb, slide, and play. And so the Playground Renovation Project began, in 2023.

We dreamed big and we came to you, and we really could not have done this without you! We began fundraising for this exciting project and you showed up, time and time again. Thanks for your numerous, generous direct gifts and for your participation in our fundraisers: Spirit Nights at local restaurants, Kids Nights Out at Oakton UMC, enrolling your children in our enrichment classes, joining us for Oakton UMC's annual Bluegrass & BBQ event, and the Pampered Chef fundraiser. Also, thank you to our OCP teachers and Oakton UMC families for all the hours and energy you spent volunteering your time for these fundraisers and for your help in putting everything together.

In September 2024, we were able to replace the main playground climbing structure with a larger, park-grade structure, featuring a yellow double slide, red climbing wall, double steering wheels, and curved bridge. Our students had a front-row seat to the action and could not wait to be able to play on the brand new playground!

The next phase involved replacing the wooden beams that bordered the mulch area with new plastic borders, and adding fresh, new playground mulch. We were also able to purchase 3 park-grade blue picnic tables, a new play house, and more toys like lawn mowers, teeter-totters, and ride-on toys.

On May 10, 2025, we had our Playground Dedication & Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony, along with music, popcorn, and snow cones!

THANK YOU for helping us reach our fundraising goal by spreading the word with your friends and family, for your numerous and generous direct gifts, and for your participation in our fundraisers. This really was a community effort, and we are forever grateful!
